iParenting Media Awards’ Reviewer Feedback
iParenting Media Award statuses are partly determined by the results of
surveys that were answered by three independent, external evaluation sites:
a licensed childcare facility/school, an expert and a parent. The reviewers
answered many questions about all products that contributed to a score for
our product. They also offered subjective feedback which is shown below.
iParenting provided this information as a courtesy to our company. The
feedback did not count toward determining scores and award statuses. They
are just the opinions of their reviewers
What are the positive characteristics of this product?
The story was quite an adventure. It encourages active listening. The song at
the beginning of the CD immediately received the children's undivided
attention. Once the story had been heard and almost memorized, the
children looked forward to listening it and pretending to be the characters.
We really had a lot of fun with Billy Brown.
The positive characteristic of this product was that it is fun and a good
quality adventure the children truly enjoyed listening to. In fact, they
listened to it several times-- over and over!
The positive characteristic of this product is that it is an engaging story that
encourages using your imagination. The sound quality is excellent and the
narrator provides enough detail to help visualize the story. It is also a great
length for kids who really enjoyed this. One other positive is that this
product can entertain a child alone or the whole family can enjoy it.
Expanded Feedback
Below are the answers to the question Giddio posed to the reviewers. These
questions were answered after the reviewing process was completed and
were not a factor in the determination of your award status.
What do you like or dislike about audio adventures (full cast voice acting)
compared to TV, story telling CDs and music for kids?
I loved the delightful tale of Billy Brown. It encourages active listening. I
liked that it combined music with the story. I would like to have the addition
of a colorful book. I like it more than TV because the kids can be creative
while they listen to the story.
What I believe children would enjoy about full cast audio adventures is that
they love the variety and different sounds; it is almost like going on an
adventure. And because the audio is not all the same voice the kids can't wait
for the next great sound or voice to come up. Children love characters
having different voices and I found them trying to imitate those voices.
I like audio adventures because it makes you use your imagination, pay
attention and focus on a specific task. An audio adventure engages you more
fully than an ordinary story that can become just background noise. This
story is a perfect length to sit down and enjoy. I also like the story telling cd's
because they are a little easier to follow than the straight audio adventures.
It was not always quiet enough in my house for my child to be able to hear
the entire story. If there was a book to go with this, it would be easier to
focus on the story while things are hectic around him.
