What’s a great way to make bedtime easy for you and
your kids?
Let them listen to audio adventures in bed with the volume set low
after lights-out time.  They’ll be asleep before the recording is
finished! Blogger mom
JumpingMonkeys reviews: ... "Selfishly, I
love Billy Brown because he, unlike anything else, has managed to
keep Annabella in her room at bedtime. She's had trouble falling
asleep since we transitioned to a bed almost three years ago. But we
put on a little Billy Brown and she's in there for good."

What are “audio adventures” anyway?
Audio adventures are full-cast radio recordings that spark the
imagination. Voice actors play all the different characters, with
sound effects and music added to bring the magic to life! The first
“audio adventures” were radio dramas written with adults in mind
– but kids may love them even more! For adults, they are also
known as audio theater or audio plays and sometimes described as
theater of the mind or simply full-cast audio these days.

Are audio adventures educational?
Of course! Audio adventures challenge kids’ imagination and
fantasy, enhance their vocabularies and explain important
concepts that all kids want to learn, for example: “What’s an
address?”

Can you let your children listen to audio adventures at
their own discretion?
Yes! Your children can listen in on the adventure while playing,
drawing, or to bring in nap time. Kids can listen whenever,
wherever and however they like. Because audio adventures are
more nourishing than “zoning out” in front of the TV, you can let
your children listen to them as often as they want. Kids should
rather have their own CD player than TV in their rooms.

How about on car trips?
That’s a great idea! While the family is traveling, you can listen
with your children through the car’s stereo – quality time - or just
bring along portable CD player with headphones and they can
listen on their own.  Portable players can be had starting at about
$30.

Why are audio adventures thought to be better than
TV?
Audio adventures naturally stimulate kids’ imaginations,
lengthening their attention spans and their appetite for creative
play.  Television, for reasons that are not entirely understood but
are nonetheless well known, can often do the opposite.

Why audio adventures instead of audio stories or audio
books?
Of course, there are lots of good reasons for adults to listen to
audio books as well.  But audio adventures are complementary to
instead of being a substitute for reading a book. They allow your
children to delve into great stories for themselves.

Who are the actors and other artists who created the
audio adventures?
Many wonderful and talented folks have come together to create
audio adventures – some as voice actors, some as audio engineers,
some as script writers, and so on.  If you would like to learn more
about them or make contact with anyone in the Kiddio team, let us
know.

Are there audio adventures for adults?
Yes, and they are called audio drama or audio theater, sometimes
audio drama these days. Browsing through the web you can even
find old time radio (OTR) drama for download. But allow us to give
you some links to contemporary audio theater!
